TELEVISION STUDIO
The educational television studio is a
structural division of the university, in particular of the Institute of
Television, Film and Theatre, where the practical training of students, whose
specialities are Journalism, Cinema and Television Art, is carried out.
Professional
editors, camera-men and video engineers, who help the students in realization
of their creative plans, work at the studio. At the studio there are all
conditions for this purpose: the film-making premises, technically equipped
specially for studio shooting; two assembly stations: linear and nonlinear. The
shootings are carried out with digital cameras in mini DV and professional – Betacam - formats.
The
students have an opportunity to make their own creative works, course and
diploma papers, under the management and with the help of both studio workers
and teachers.
„This
Day in History”, a daily program shown on National TV Educational channel, has
been created by the students at the studio since December, 2002. The students
collect information, process it, work as editors, write scripts to their
programs, and also act as TV hosts.
One
more weekly program – "Educational News", created by the KIU students
- has been shown on the National channel since February, 2003. It is the news
about school and students’ life. The students do on-the-spot news reports,
write news stories, take direct part in montage. The topics and ideas
concerning the programs are offered by students, they prepare the scripts of
programs either.
Due to
such opportunities the students get acquainted practically with the
"kitchen" of television journalism, improve their skills of
reporters, editors, TV hosts and directors.
At the
end of a working week the students, who take part in the educational process at
the television studio, look through their works, discuss them, make remarks and
proposals. As a result of the weekly work, the reviews of programs in general
and of each news story in particular are written.
The
educational television studio keeps in touch with other broadcasting companies,
including regional; with the ministries, organizations and establishments which
help to create programs and find a topic.
The
practical training at the studio enables every student to show and to realize
himself or herself as a creative person.
