Borys B. Samotokin

Borys B. Samotokin has been working in higher educational institutions of Ukraine for 41 years: in 1967-1979 he worked at Kiev Polytechnic Institute as assistant professor, professor, department head; in 1979-1994 – as the director of Zhitomir branch of Kiev Polytechnic Institute; in 1994-2000 – Rector, and in 2000-2003 he was vice-rector for international co-operation in Zhytomyr Engineering and Technological Institute (since 2003 it’s been Zhytomyr State Technological University), since 2003 he has worked as vice-rector for International Relations in Kyiv International University.

Areas of interests: orientation satellites, management of technical facilities, management of higher education, project management. Borys B. Samotokin has more than 200 scientific and educational works, among them: 30 certificates and patents for inventions, books “Instrumentation and navigation systems”, “Flexible computerized systems: design, modeling and control”, training manuals "Microprocessor control systems", "Robotic Systems", “Parts and mechanisms for robots: bases of calculation, design and production technology, "Lectures on the theory of automatic control”, monograph “Orbital gyrocompassing” and others.

While working at KyIU for his initiative, more than 20 international projects were prepared, 6 of which received funding as follows: Information technology in modern journalism (2004-2005) - with the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine; European standards for international tourism economy teaching (2004 -2007); European experience of the student government at Ukrainian universities (2004-2006); International co-operation offices’ modernization (2005-2006); European-Ukrainian approach to ranking Ukrainian Universities (2006-2007); Analysis of crises and decision making in Ukraine (2006-2009). In KyIU he gives the course of lectures in the following subjects: theory of systems and system analysis, systems of technologies; he manages the preparation of master and bachelor works in the field of international information.

Borys B. Samotokin is a member of the International Academy of navigation and traffic management, he belongs to two Specialized councils in doctoral theses defense at the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute" in areas "Instrument making" and "Automation", and is a member of the Editorial Board of “Journal of Zhytomyr State Technological University. Engineering“.
