Principal provisions of foreigners’ admission to Kyiv International University for study during 2012/2013 academic year.

 

Admission of foreigners and apolides (hereinafter referred to as foreigners) is realized according to the Law of Ukraine On Legal Status of Foreigners and Apolides (as amended), Ukraine’s Presidential Decree No 112 On Measures of Economic Cooperation Development between Ukrainian Regions and Contiguous Borderlands of Russian Federation of March 25th, 1994 and No 271 On Measures of Economic Cooperation Development between Ukrainian Regions and Contiguous Regions of Republic of Belarus and Administrative-territorial Units of Republic of Moldova of June 3rd, 1994, Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No 136 On Foreign Citizens’ Study in Ukraine (as amended) of February 26th, 1993 and No 1238 On Approval of the Provision on Foreigners’ and Apolides’ Admission to Higher Educational Institutions for Study of August 5th, 1998.

 

Foreigners who get state scholarships according to international agreements, national programs, other international obligations of Ukraine are admitted to study on the basis of assignments of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine within the government order. Foreigners of Ukrainian origin who, being sent to study from national cultural societies, enjoy the same rights to education at entry KIU as citizens of Ukraine. They participate in enrolment competition in score amount of certificates of Ukrainian center education quality assessment or in score amount of admission examinations (creative competitions) according to point 5.5 of the Admission Regulations of KIU. Foreigners of Ukrainian origin who, being sent to study from national cultural societies, enjoy the same rights to education at entry other training directions (specialties) as citizens of Ukraine if they participated in international academic liberal arts competitions. The Admission Regulations should assign entrance tests from some of these liberal arts as majors ones for the training direction (specialty) that was selected by an intending student.

 

Foreigners, who need entrance visas, have to get an invitation to study at the University according to the set form of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The invitations to study are being supplied from April 1st up to September 1st.

 

A foreigner has to send a copy of his/her passport as well as fill out a proper form of application for getting the invitation.

Foreigners’ documents for study are accepted from July 15th up to August 21st on the assumption of availability of a secondary education certificate with the academic average score at least equal to ‘4’ (on five-grade scale) or ‘8’ (on twelve-grade scale) as well as legal foundation for validity of the documents according to Ukrainian legislation. Foreigners send to the University documents that are specified by the Provision on foreigners’ and apolides’ admission to higher educational institutions for study approved by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No 1238 of August 5th, 1998.

 

A foreigner has to nostrify his/her secondary education certificate in the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Foreign applicants have to provide the following documents:

  • a notarized copy of the secondary education certificate with academic scores;
  • a medical certificate of the HIV-negative status of the applicant according to agreements between Ukraine and other states or lines from medical and preventive treatment institution about HIV medical examination;
  • a medical certificate of health that confirms training opportunity in Ukraine’s climate conditions and certified by health protection authority of the native foreigner’s country. The certificate should be granted at least two months prior to his/her departure for study in Ukraine;
  • the questionnaire of a standard type;
  • an insurance police for emergency medical response (except foreigners who arrived from countries that settle contracts on free emergency medical response);
  • a notarized copy of birth certificate;
  • 12 pictures three-by-four cm;
  • open return up to a year (except citizens of CIS countries).

 

Notarized copies of documents with their translation into Ukrainian (Russian) according to legislation of the issuing country should be legalized in the Ukrainian consulate of the corresponding country in accordance with the established procedure.

Foreigners are enrolled in the University on the basis of results of final examination as well as agreements with juridical persons and individuals after graduation from the University’s foundation courses.

Foreigners with graduation certificates from foundation courses of another higher educational institution of Ukraine are enrolled in vacant first-year positions of the University on the basis of results of an interview in a major subject. Foreigners are enrolled in the University by order of the rector according to application of a foreign affairs representative. Foreigners who know Ukrainian (or Russian) which is confirmed by corresponding education certificate are admitted to entrance examinations equally with Ukraine’s citizens.

 

Foreigners are enrolled in the University on the basis of results of the interview under conditions of enough educational level and knowledge of language of tuition as well as concluded contract.

Foreigners are enrolled in the University up to August 31st.
