Slavonic Philology and General Linguistics Department
The department is headed by professor Ivan P. Yushchuk
Ivan P. Yushchuk is a professor, honored scientist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, member of the Central Board of the Ukrainian society "Prosvita" named after Taras Shevchenko, the Ukrainian winner of the Prize named after B. Grinchenko, an anchorman of TV program "The way we speak" on the channel "Culture", the author of many books on the Ukrainian language and translations of Southern literature.
Teaching is provided by highly qualified scientists and lecturers.
The department provides training in the following disciplines:
Modern Ukrainian language, stylistics of Ukrainian language, Ukrainian language (professional orientation), introduction to linguistics, general linguistics, linguistics in the context of culture studying, literary editing, editorial art, Latin.
Major research areas:
• "Ukrainian language among other world languages";
• "Methods of teaching the Ukrainian language".
Scientific groups of the department:
• "Lawyer-linguist;
• "Latin and Today";
• "The International Aspect of the Ukrainian language".
Students present their reports at scientific conferences and then publish them in scientific journals.
