Economics and Management Department

 

The Department is headed by assistant professor Olga V. Miagkova.

 

Economics and Management Department provides tuition in economic subjects at KIU departments and institutes as well as professional training in the following areas: management, business economics, international economics, finance and credit, accounting and auditing, marketing, merchandizing and trading business, administrative management.

 

Among the major professional courses are: audit, banking, bankruptcy and reorganization of enterprises, business planning, stock exchange activities, accounting, introduction to the specialty, money and credit, government regulation of business protocol, econometrics, business economics, Ukraine's economy in transformational processes, economic and mathematical modeling of world economic processes, economic theory, economic analysis, investment controlling, credit and banking, management of organizations, strategic management, innovation management, fundamentals of management, investment management, logistics, macroeconomics, marketing, management and marketing, microeconomics, and others.

 

Academic staff of the Department includes: prof. M.A. Shvaika, prof. I.I. Pavlenko, assoc. prof. T.S. Rozhkova, teacher N.A. Bondarchuk and others.

 

The main scientific-research topic of the department: "Ways of promoting the economic and social development to the European level”, which is a part of the University theme "International legal, political and economic foundations of European integration of Ukraine".

 

The main areas of the Department research activities:

 

- Innovative technologies in management

- the strategy of innovative development and economic growth in Ukraine

- Assessing the competitiveness of industries in Ukraine.

 

To strengthen the institutional arrangements of students’ scientific research work, the Economics and Management Department has established 4 students’ associations:

 

Students Scientific Society "Business Club". The participants of this club are the students of I-II courses. At meetings they discuss and debate practical issues related to management, operation of business, real business activities;

Student Society "Modern Entrepreneur”. Participants of this group are students of III and IV courses. At their meetings they discuss issues related to management and marketing activities of Ukraine;

Students of III course participate in the scientific workshop "Economic Security of Ukraine: problems and prospects»;

Student’s workshop "Development of economy of Ukraine”, in which the students of the IV course take part.

 

At the meetings students are given advice on the implementation of research, writing scientific papers and delivering reports.

The results of students’ scientific activity are realized in the presentations at scientific conferences and contests, in students’ scientific research works.

The department provides students’ practical training in public institutions, financial and credit institutions, the industrial, commercial enterprises and other organizations that are basic to the familiarizing, training, professional working practice.

 

The department has the appropriate material infrastructure for proper training in economics. Specialized computer room for applied economics is equipped with modern software (“1-C Enterprise","1-C accounting", etc.) and connected to Internet, which allows students under the guidance of teachers to solve practical situational tasks of the economic content.
