The learning process in the Institute is being carried out by academics and practical staff whose names are well known both in Ukraine and abroad. Among them: Olexandr Victorovych Bezruchko,  PhD in art criticism, associate professor, head of the cinema-and dramatic art department, fellow of the National Cineastes’ Union of Ukraine, National Journalists’ Union of Ukraine and IFJ; Mykola Dmytrovych Oliynyk, honoured artist of Ukraine, associate professor, fellow of the National Journalists’ Union of Ukraine, practical camera operator, fellow of the National Cineastes’ Union of Ukraine; Maryna Olexandrivna Myronenko, professor, fellow of the National Journalists’ Union of Ukraine; Sergiy Mykolayovych Poleshko, professor, fellow of the National Journalists’ Union of Ukraine; Lyudmyla Dmytrivna Lymar, associate professor, teacher of the actor’s skill, honoured artist of Ukraine, winner of the International RF K.S Stanislavskyi Award, creative director of the Silver Island theatre, fellow of the National Theatrical Workers’ Union of Ukraine; Oleg Olegovych Royenko, associate professor, teacher of the stage movement and stage fencing, actor of the L.Ukrainka National academic theatre of Russian drama, cinema player; Svitlana Hryhorivna Dyachok, associate professor, choreography teacher, choreographer.

Basic professional knowledge is formed in the process of teaching the following blocks of disciplines:

DISCIPLINES OF THE LIBERAL ARTS AND SOCIAL-AND-ECONOMIC TRAINING CYCLE

History of Ukraine, modern Ukrainian (for professional needs), history of Ukrainian culture, physical culture, philosophy, art sociology.

DISCIPLINES OF THE SCIENTIFIC AND GENERAL ECONOMIC TRAINING CYCLE

Information basics, foreign languages, introduction to specialty, basics of ecology and work security, history of world literature, history of Ukrainian literature, history and theory of the world theatre, history of the fine arts, drama history and dramatic arts rules, history of Ukrainian theatre, history of the material culture, costume and being, history of music and musical literature, pedagogic of the arts.

DISCIPLINES OF THE PROFESSIONAL TRAINING CYCLE

Specialization: Drama Theater and Cinema Stagecraft

Stagecraft, scenic language (Russian, Ukrainian), choreography (folk, ballroom, modern), stage movement, fencing, plastic musical training, stage combat, singing, makeup, university education, the history of cinema.

Specialization: Directing Drama Theater

Directing, scenic language (Russian, Ukrainian), choreography (folk, ballroom, modern), set design and stage equipment, stage movement, makeup, history and theory of directing, stage music, university education, the history of cinema.

Specialization: theater critic

Theater studies, university education, stage music, history of cinema.

KIU Institute of Television, Film and Theatre actively uses such forms of training as:

• Master classes of leading Ukrainian and foreign artists;

• Practice in leading theaters of Kyiv, film studios and TV stations;

• Practice in leading magazines and newspapers;

• Master-classes of leading actors and directors;

• Student scientific conferences and creative games (Merry and Witty Contest), beauty contests and festivals of talent;

• concerts and performances;

• charity screenings;

• KIU own International Festival of Students’ and Pre –University Theatres "Stars that will rise tomorrow”.

For professional training KIU educational theater equipped with modern light and sound equipment, as well as Small concert hall, dance hall, acting workshops, art history classrooms are available.

The educational process is conducted in bright rooms, built according to European standards,  equipped with the latest technology, video projectors, plasma TV, stereo, piano, synthesizers.

Students of actors’ workshops since their first year of study participate in popular television programs as actors and presenters, in cultural events and festivals, performances in theaters, in the filming of TV series and commercials.

After the full course of study, specialists in theatrical art may hold the following positions:

- cinema and theater actor

 - director of the Drama Theatre

- Musical Comedy Theatre director

- director of theater for junior audience

- the literary manager of the theater

- the editor of newspapers and magazines

 - TV editor

- researcher of the specialized institutes of the Academy of Sciences, museums.
