  Educational and qualification levels:

Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree.

bachelor – 4 years;

master – 1 year and a half on the basis of basic higher education.

Education – full-time, extra-mural.

Extensive professional knowledge of the specialty (for bachelor’s degree) is formed by the following blocks of subjects:

 Block of Humanitarian and SOCIO-ECONOMIC subjects

Foreign language, Ukrainian language for professional orientation, history of Ukraine, law, history of Ukrainian culture, philosophy, politology, physical education.

Block of natural-scientific and general economic subjects

Safety of life, rhetoric and ethics of communication, basic computer, anatomy and physiology of higher nervous activity, anthropology and basic demography, general psychology, basic ecology and valeology, theory of elites and politics, the theory of probability and mathematical statistics, social statistics, methodology and techniques of social research, the analysis of social systems, pedagogics, theory and practice of management, theory of social control, social ecology and eco-culture of personality, conflict studying etc.

Block of professionally-oriented  subjects

Introduction to the specialty, social work with different groups of clients, basic psychological counseling psychocorrection, theory and technology of social work, social and sociological services, technology of social work in foreign countries, sociology of ethnicity, mathematical methods in the social and psychological work, sociology of personality, psychological diagnostics, sociology of art, social psychology, social and psychological counseling in practical work, basic systematic theory, special and industrial sociology, social policy, practical psychology in the social work, sociology of education, family education, sociology of youth, sociological practical work, family sociology, social guarantees and protection legislation, career sociology, social policy in Ukraine, management of social work, PSA (public service advertisement), deviance sociology, biology and human genetics, evolution of the nervous system, university education, basics of the analysis of social policy, art-training, training of social competence, training on personal growth, social and legal system, theoretical and empirical models of social processes, foreign language for professional orientation, vocational selection, psychology of administration etc.

Extensive professional knowledge of the specialty (for master’s degree) is formed by the following blocks of subjects:

Sociology of youth, basic psychoanalysis, the theory and practice of high school, pathopsychology, organization of self-governing group work, organization and methods of research, social psychology of organization, methodology of training work, social innovations, projective methods of personality research, basic sexology and sexopathology, public relations, basic Psychiatry and Neurology, information support of social sphere, volunteering in social work, psychology of conflict, basics of sociological rehabilitation of people with disabilities, computer data analysis in social studies, modern psychological methods of studying personality, social and psychological assistance in suicide studying, practical work on mediator technology, organization of services in post-accidental areas, comparative social politics: Ukraine and the EU, social work with refugees, teaching methodology in high school, social work with HIV / AIDS people, social work with drug addicts.

Students of the Sociology and Social Control Department

 receive practical training in:

Ø  the Institute of Social and Political Psychology;

Ø  sociological centres and agencies;

Ø  ministries and the parliamentary Committees;

Ø  department of public and social services;

Ø  the departments of Kyiv City Committee of the International Red Cross

Ø  international programs and organizations;

Ø  the Ukrainian Institute of Integrative Psychology and Psychotherapy.

 After a full academic course sociologists and specialists in Social work are prepared for:

ü  organization and analysis of sociological information in the humanities and social problems;

ü  analysis and forecasting of social-psychological processes;

ü  leadership activity in the field of public administration;

ü  providing professional assistance in the educational, social and industrial areas;

ü  pedagogical work in higher educational institutions;

ü  organization and carrying out of trainings;
