Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree.

 

bachelor – 4 years;

master – 1 year and a half on the basis of basic higher education;

master – 1 year on the basis of complete higher education.

 

Education – full-time, extra-mural.

 

Extensive professional knowledge of the specialty (for bachelor’s degree) is formed in the process of teaching of the following blocks of subjects:

 

Block of Humanitarian and SOCIO-ECONOMIC subjects

 

Ukrainian language for professional orientation, foreign language, history of Ukrainian culture, history of Ukraine, law, theory of economics, philosophy, politology, physical education and others.

 

 Block of natural-scientific and general economic subjects

 

Basics of life safety, practical work in psychology, general psychology, anthropology and basic demography, anatomy and physiology of higher nervous activity, basic computer, basic biology and human genetics, evolution of the nervous system, basic ecology and valeology, zoopsychology and comparative psychology, probability theory and mathematical statistics, basic management and marketing, age psychology, pedagogics, mathematical methods in the social and psychological work, psychological diagnostics, differential psychology, experimental psychology, Psychophysiology, clinical psychology, psychotherapy and psychological training, methods of psychological examination, Engineering Psychology etc.

 

Block of professionally-oriented  subjects

 

Introduction to the specialty, history of psychology, social psychology, basic psychological practice, educationall psychology, political psychology, psychological practical work: psychological support of students of high school, psychology of work, legal psychology, pathopsychology, administrative psychology, psychological practical work:  family counseling etc.

 

Extensive professional knowledge of the specialty (for master’s degree) is formed in the process of teaching of the following blocks of subjects:

 

 Gerontopsychology, psychology of mass behavior, basic psychogenetics, basic psychiatry and neurology, fundamentals of psychoanalysis, theoretical and methodological problems of psychology, human evolution framework, Public Relations, pedagogics of high school , teaching methodology in high school, organization and methods of research, the psychology of traumatic situations, civil defence, social work, social and political conflicts, social and psychological practical work, computer analysis of data in social psychological researches, modern psycho correction techniques in practical psychology, psychology of the image, the psychological support of negotiation process, crisis psychological counseling.

 

Students of the Institute of Psychology, Social and Political Sciences receive practical training in:

 

Ø the Institute of Social and Political Psychology;

Ø the departments of social and psychological services;

Ø the departments of Kyiv City Committee of the International Red Cross

Ø the Ukrainian Institute of Integrative Psychology and Psychotherapy;

  

After a full academic course a specialist in Psychology is prepared for:

 

 

ü  advisory activities for psychology;

ü  forecasting and analysis of socio-psychological phenomena in Ukraine;

ü  implementation of applied research and development in the field of humanitarian problems;

ü  providing selection and adaptation of staff;

ü  providing psychological care and psychological support of industrial, educational, social and other spheres;

ü  pedagogical work in higher educational institutions.

 

May work in:

 

Ø  state structures and institutions (state administration, departments of relevant ministries, commercial bodies);

Ø  centres of applied psychology and social work;

Ø  social and psychological structures that ensure negotiation processes, form and select personnel, optimize organization and relationships in a working group;

Ø  all institutions and agencies dealing with social and psychological assistance, professional psychological selection in the centres of psychological diagnosis, psychoanalysis and psychocorrection.

 

May hold the following positions:

 

Þ      psychologist and consultant;

Þ      practical psychologist;

Þ      psychologist-diagnostician in education, health, social sector;

Þ      lecturer in psychology and applied psychological subjects in schools and colleges.
