Translator of two foreign languages, translator-interpreter.
Educational and qualification levels:
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree.
Duration of Studies:
bachelor – 4 years;
master – 1 year on the basis of basic higher education;
second higher education – 2,5 years.
Education - full-time, extra-mural.
Extensive professional knowledge of the specialty is formed in the process of teaching of the following blocks of subjects:
History of Ukraine, philosophy, politology, psychology, Ukrainian language for professional orientation, English, and students of the Institute also have an opportunity to learn foreign languages optionally.
Block of professionally-oriented subjects
Practical course of the first and second language; consecutive and written translation of the first foreign language;practice of translation from a second foreign language; practical course in translation from native language; theory of translation, hermeneutics of translation; problems of scientific and technical translation; translation and editing text art; methods of teaching translation; basic theory of linguistic communication; linguistics; Latin; practical phonetics and grammar of foreign language; the practice of translation (written, aspect and oral bilateral translation); introduction to translation; basic theory of translation; terminology of translation; basis translation of text analysis; history; stylistics of a foreign language; comparative grammar; comparative lexicology of foreign and Ukrainian languages; country-studying; history of world literature; basic computer science and applied linguistics; basics of scientific research and others.
Non-academic activities
Language laboratories: B.E.S.T. Club, Espanõl, German, French, Spanish, Centre of Arabic language learning, studio art translation.
Scientific groups: style and interpretation; theoretical basics of adequate translation; lexico-grammatical features of translation of texts, which belong to different functional styles of language.
After a full academic course a specialist in linguistics may hold the following positions:
