The history of foreign literature, modern Ukrainian language, the
theory of mass communication, rhetoric, basic informatics and reprography,
basic ecology etc.
Fundamentals of the theory of journalism, basic theory of literature,
basic Figurative Journalism, Ukrainian folklore, journalistic genres
(informative, analytical, artistic and publicistic),
basic radio journalism, basic television journalism, history of Ukrainian
journalism, foreign journalism, psychology of journalistic work, computer
design, international journalism, journalistic professions, theory and
methodology of the journalistic art, literary editing, media economics, the
legal framework for mass communication, press- services and informational news

● annual nationwide festival “Young TV ";

contests on the best publishing, TV- and radio program, photo illustration.

Studio of KyIU;
Television studio is actively used in the vocational training of
journalists. On its basis the students of the Institute prepare weekly
TV-programs like "Student ID”, which are broadcast to all regional
TV-channels in Ukraine.
Practical skills of journalism students also receive at the press center
of KyIU, preparing operational information and analytical
materials for various periodicals, including the all-Ukrainian socio-political
newspaper "Post Scriptum +” issued by students of the Institute of
Journalism.
Students also issue an alternative newspaper "Shtopor"
(“Corkscrew”), which in 2007 took a second place in the nationwide competition
of student newspapers in Zaporizhia.
Students of all courses are constantly involved in filming of various
TV-programs.
