Mushkudiani

He was born in April 22, 1938 in Mestia, Mestiyskiy
District, Georgia. He graduated from Kiev Pedagogical Institute named after O.M.
Gorky (graduated in 1966); worked as correspondent of the Georgian radio and
television in Abkhazia (1966-1969); scientific editor of Shevchenko dictionary
in Ukrainian Soviet Encyclopedia, (V. 1, 2. 1978); in 1969 he entered the
postgraduate division of Kiev Pedagogical Institute named after O.M. Gorky -
graduated in 1973; lectured on Oriental literature in higher educational
institutions of Ukraine: in Nizhin Pedagogical Institute named after M.V.
Gogol, Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky Pedagogical Institute named after G. Skovoroda,
Kyiv National University named after T. Shevchenko.
He has been a member of the Specialized Academic
Council of the Institute
of Philology since 1999. In 1974 he defended
his Ph.D. thesis on "Ukrainian-Georgian literary relations in the 20 - 30
years of XX century", in 1996 he defended doctoral thesis on "The
role of translation in the Georgian-Ukrainian Literary Relations." From
1973 to 1996 he worked at the Institute
of Literature named after
T. Shevchenko of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine as senior
researcher and head of the department. He is a author of over 200 scientific
articles, including: "Zapovit" by Shevchenko in Georgian language
"(1972);" Kavkaz " by Shevchenko in Georgian translation (1976) and others.
Oleksandr N. Mushkudiani took part in scientific
conferences dedicated to T. Shevchenko (XIX, XXI, XXII and XXIII). Author of
monographs, including: "Rapprochement and mutual enrichment of Soviet
literature" (co-author, K., 1977), "Subject of internationalism and
friendship in the multinational Soviet literature" (K., 1981);"From
the history of Ukrainian-Georgian literary relations late XIX - early XX
century." (K., 1986), "Georgian-Ukrainian literary and artistic
relationship 20's - 30 years of the XX century." (K., 1991); "Saadi.
Life and Work "(K., 1999) etc.
He published a book with a foreword and comments
"Monuments of old Georgian Literature" (2006). Now at Kyiv International
University he lectures on
Oriental literature and structure of foreign journalism. He is the head of the
Department of Ukrainian and world cultures and of literatures. Executive editor
of scientific journals like "Visnyk" (literary studies) and
"Orientalis".
For strengthening the friendship between the Ukrainian
and Georgian peoples he was awarded with the "Diploma of the Supreme
Council of Georgia" and "Order of Honor" - The Republic of
Georgia.
Doctor of Philology, professor, member of the National
Union of Writers of Ukraine (1996), a member of the National Union of
Journalists of Ukraine (2003).
