OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION OF KYIV INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY
In 2004 KIU gained a grant from the Media Development Fund of the
U.S. Embassy in Ukraine to execute the project “Information technologies in
modern journalism”.
The main purpose of the project was to study and define urgent training
needs of journalists-practicians as for usage of information technologies and
to conduct trainings, aimed at improving their professional skills. The local
situation was monitored to define the level of knowledge of
journalists-practicians in the sphere of information technologies and necessity
to use this knowledge in their practical activity. Based on the results of the
polls and recommendations of the respondents the team of the teachers of the
department of international information and informatics and the faculty of
journalism and television prepared the educational programme, on the basis of
which two training manuals were developed and published.
Starting from 2003–2004 Kyiv International University is an active
participant of the European projects under the EU programme TEMPUS-TACIS.
Samotokin Borys
Borysovych, Vice-rector for International Relations, Doctor of Technical
Sciences, Professor, is the Coordinator of the international projects and
programs of KIU.
Every year KIU submits several projects to the
European Commission.
In 2004 two projects received funding (“European
Standards in Teaching International Tourism Economics” and “European Student
Self-Governance in Ukrainian universities),
in 2005 – one project (“Modernization of International Relations Offices”) and
in 2006 – two projects (“Crisis Analysis and Decision Making in Ukraine” and
“European-Ukrainian approach to the Inter-University Rating in Ukraine”).
Let’s present the brief information on the projects
which received funding and their main results.
JEP-24244-2003 “EU
Standards in Teaching International Tourism Economics” (Joint European project)
Main objectives of the project:
1) Development of the EU-based
teaching standard for International Tourism Economics in Ukraine;
2) Elaboration and introduction of
International Tourism Economics Master Programme at three Ukrainian
Universities
EU university consortium members were:
· Technological Educational Institute of Western
Macedonia, Greece (grant holder)
· Technical University of
Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain.
Within this project KIU developed and introduced the curriculum for Master level in
“International Economic Relations”, speciality “International Tourism
Economics”.
University resource centre was created on the basis of the equipment
purchased within the project.
JEP-24244-2003 European Student Self-Governance in Ukrainian universities (Joint European project)
Main objectives of the project:
– To introduce the modern EU practice of student
self-governance in Ukrainian state and private Universities;
– To establish the system of the students' leaders
training;
– To strengthening of the system of student
self-governance with the relevant information sources and services.
EU project members were:
– University of Dunkerque, France (grant holder)
– National Union of Students (Great
Britain).
The EU practice of electing student parliament was introduced, on the
basis of which the election to Student parliament was organised, the head of
the Parliament and his/her deputies were chosen.
The information student centre is created; trainings of the student core
group are conducted.
SCM TO60A05-UKR “Modernization of International Relations Offices”
Main objectives of the project:
- modernization of international relations offices in
four Ukrainian universities of various types on the modern EU practice of
international cooperation of universities.
EU project members were:
– Cordoba University, Spain (grant holder)
– Mittweida University of Applied Sciences, Germany.
SCM TO74A06-2006 “European-Ukrainian approach to the Establishment
of the Inter-University Rating in Ukraine”
Main objectives of the project are: study of the modern EU practice of
inter-university rating and creation of European-Ukrainian inter-university
rating system as well as rating of the specialty “Management” in four Ukrainian
universities.
EU project members were:
– Cordoba University, Spain (grant holder,
coordinator).
– Warsaw School of Economics, Poland.
May 2008 –the agreement of cooperation between Kyiv International
University (Ukraine) and Aristoteles Institute of Foreign Languages in Bremen
(Germany) was signed to develop and strengthen bilateral relations.
JEP_26193_2005 “Crisis
Analysis and Decision Making in Ukraine” (Joint European project)
Main objectives of the project are:
– to create the EU-UA integrated Master Course in
Crisis Analysis and Decision Making based on advanced information technologies
and existing European experience;
– to introduce it in four Ukrainian Universities of
various types (two classical, economic and humanitarian ones).
EU project members were:
– University of Stuttgart, Germany (grant holder)
– University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy.
Thanks to the projects computer classes and video conference class were equipped.
The video conference class will be used to deliver virtual lectures of the
European professors in Ukrainian Universities. Within this project KIU developed
the curriculum for the specialty “Crisis Analysis and Decision
Making” under the specialties “International Relations” and “Foreign Policy”.
